Nestled in the enchanting Mitsumata region, Kagura Mitsumata Cottage is a gem for anyone seeking both adventure and comfort. As a history professor partial to unique landscapes, I was particularly delighted by the proximity to the scenery of Joshin'etsu-kogen National Park, which is an absolute treat for hiking. The ski-to-door access was a major plus, with the cable car to the slopes just a short stroll away. The cottage itself was clean and tidy, featuring a spacious tatami mat room that comfortably accommodated three of us without feeling cramped-perfect for unwinding after a long day on the slopes. I appreciated the thoughtful details throughout the property, from the friendly staff who made check-in a breeze to the well-maintained ski gear available for hire. While the location lacks nearby restaurants, the hospitality and the option of a shared lounge made for a cozy atmosphere to relax at the end of the day. All things considered, it was a brilliant base for exploring the winter sports in the area, and I wouldn't hesitate to return, particularly if breakfast options were made available for early-morning adventures. Highly recommend this cottage for those who share a love for both history and the great outdoors!
